TA's annual award program began in 2006 and for the first five years winners were based strictly on popular vote of TA's members without any sort of vote validation other than to ensure the voter was indeed a working telecom agent.  In 2012, TA converted the awards judging from popular vote to partner and customer review tempered with industry publications and subject matter expert interview.

"Upgrading the judging in 2012 helped maintain the value of our awards results," Baldwin stated. "While popular vote worked fine for the first five years, our results are now determined by 'weighted input' such that $50,000 vendor selection decisions by our members and their customers count a great deal more than a $100 decision."
